Are you importing goods from outside the EU and is it not yet known whether they will also remain within the European Union? Or do you have your goods temporarily stored in a customs warehouse? Then we speak of goods in ‘transit’. In this case, there is no customs clearance between import and export. For these goods, you do not have to make an import declaration immediately, which prevents you from paying import duties and other taxes. However, you must submit a transit declaration with a so-called T1 document. Are you shipping goods to, from or via an EFTA (European Free Trade Association) country, such as Switzerland? Then you must be in possession of a T2 document.
Declarants also offers you the possibility to store your non-EU goods in a customs warehouse, where your goods remain under the supervision of customs. This includes the necessary permits or transport to another location within the European Union, where the import declaration is taken care of on location.
